Very early, circa 1953/54, Herald/Zang Horse Guards – 3 mounted and 3 dismounted figures (marked with Herald trumpeter logo and ‘Made in England’) – the horses are the early two-part cellulose acetate moulds and are in super condition and the inside of the rear legs are stamped ‘Made in’ and ‘England’. Of the three riders, only the two have their metal scabbards. The condition of the figures is Excellent overall, with only minor paint loss, and strung into a plain REPRODUCTION card insert. The catalogue number of this early set is 6.H.G. which was only used for 1953 and ’54 – shown alongside a box set from Ray Ellwood’s collection for comparison – [Provenance: figures from the late ‘Ray Ellwood’ collection, which we believe Ray origianally purchased from Vectis Auctions]
